A fisherman most of his life, Juneau resident Robert J. Kohlhase, 70, died June 29, 2006, in Bristol Bay. He had a boat called the Northern Sea in Southeast Alaska and one called the Sleep Robber in Bristol Bay.Robert Kohlhase

Fellow fisherman Paul Burrill said "he was a good friend to a lot of different people".

He was born May 1, 1936, in Juneau and lived there his whole life. He graduated from Douglas High School and attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks. For two years, he was stationed in the United States Army at Fort Lewis in Washington.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Kohlhase; brother, Ernest Kohlhase and his wife, Sylvia; daughter, Robin Bell, of Seattle; nephews, Jason and Jonathan Kohlhase; step-children, Robbin Lockhardt and Marty and Todd Brown; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. July 2 at the Alaskan Mortuary Chapel in Juneau. Burial will be at 11 a.m. July 3 at the Alaskan Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest, Jason and Jonathan Kohlhase; Marty and Todd Brown; Mark Bell; and John Lockhardt.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
