According to Alaska State Troopers, the problem is between Mile 14 and Mile 79.5, near Bridal Veil Falls, located just north of Valdez. Premier Alaska Tours says one of their vans with five people on board is stranded. It's believed six others were also stranded on the road.

Troopers say some of motorists were taken in by the Department of Transportation at the Thompson Pass maintenance station while the others are staying at the Rendezvous Lodge.

Cordova is also having problems. The Department of Transportation has closed the Eyak lake road, Eyak Airport and the Copper River Highway at mile 14.
