A large 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit Mexico City, Mexico on Tuesday and swayed several buildings.

A large 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit southern Mexico on Tuesday and swayed several buildings.

No victims were reported immediately after the quake in the city of Tuxtla Gutierrez, but electric power was cut off in the area and officials evacuated their buildings, reports AFP.

The US Geological Survey reports that the earthquake struck at 6:50 a.m. and was centered in the region of Oaxac.
