November 8th, 2006

Anchorage, Alaska - In a race that really wasn't even close, Republican Sarah Palin whipped Democrat Tony Knowles by 8% to win Tuesday's election as governor of Alaska.

In a race that really wasn't even close, Republican Sarah Palin whipped Democrat Tony Knowles by 11% to win last nights election as governor of Alaska.

Alaska's next governor is the former mayor of Wasilla and self-described "hockey mom" who clobbered the incumbent governor Frank Murkowski in the GOP primary.

"I really believe the message that we started with, trust and transparency in state government, is the message that we ended with," Palin told The Associated Press Tuesday. "By the grace of God, we're not going to let you down."

"Resource development, respect for equality, encouragement and support for free enterprise and competition: those good platform points make for a good agenda for Alaska. They can only be progressed and built upon. Trust and transparency within the party and certainly within my administration -- that is my commitment to Alaska," Palin told KTUU.
