Motorola To Buy BlackBerry Rival

Santa Clara, CA - Motorola Inc said it has agreed to buy privately held Good Technology, a BlackBerry rival. Terms were not disclosed.

The company said Santa Clara-based Good Technology is a strategic addition to its Mobile Devices business.

In a statement the company said: "The acquisition will extend Motorola's mobile computing capabilities and increase the company's enterprise client base."

The acquisition, which is subject to regulatory and other customary conditions, is expected to close in early 2007.

The deal underscores efforts by the handset manufacturer to sell more business-oriented mobile devices.
