Atlanta, Georgia - A woman is in critical condition after being shot Tuesday by a man at the CNN Center complex, in what Atlanta police called a "domestic situation."

A woman is in critical condition after being shot Tuesday by a man at the CNN Center complex, in what Atlanta police called a domestic situation.

The shooter, shot by a Turner security officer, was undergoing surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital Tuesday afternoon and was in "severely critical condition," the hospital said.

The shooting occurred near the Omni Hotel part of the complex and just outside the offices of CNN.com.

Police said it involved a "domestic situation." The woman appeared to be pregnant, but authorities did not say whether she was.

A law enforcement source said the guard shot the man in the face.

The shooting occurred about 1:30 p.m., when many visitors were in the center's nearby atrium, which is a large food court filled with tables and chairs. Many fled the building. CNN.com was briefly evacuated.
