Mike Tibbles resigns as Palin's Chief of Staff
From a State of Alaska press release:
Governor Sarah Palin today accepted the resignation of her Chief of Staff and announced that three administration posts have been filled.
Mike Tibbles, who has served as the Governor's Chief of Staff, announced he will be leaving the administration. Mike Nizich, Deputy Chief of Staff, will serve as Acting Chief of Staff.
"Mike has been a valuable asset in this administration and I wish him well in his future endeavors," Governor Palin said.
Kelly Goode has been named Legislative Director. She replaces Russ Kelly, who is leaving to become an Associate Director in the Governor's Washington, D.C. office. The position was held by Larry Persily, who has chosen to return to Alaska. Rosanne Hughes has been named Communications Director and Press Secretary.
"These folks have years of policy and communications experience and share my vision for Alaska," Governor Palin said. "I am honored that such talented individuals are joining our efforts to build an effective, responsive and positive branch of government."
Goode, a lifelong Alaskan, has an extensive background with the Alaska State Legislature. She most recently served as Chief of Staff for Representative Nancy Dahlstrom. Goode served as Chief of Staff for Representative Bill Stoltze and Senator Rick Halford. She also worked for numerous legislators who have held key leadership positions. Goode received a bachelor's degree in Organizational Management from Alaska Pacific University. She resides in Anchorage with her son Travis.
Kelly, a 12-year Army veteran, has served as Legislative Director since August 2007. Prior to becoming Legislative Director, Kelly served as a Special Assistant to the Governor for transportation, public safety, corrections and veterans issues. He also worked as Deputy Chief of Staff and Communications Director for Lt. Governor Loren Leman. Kelly received a bachelor's degree in Political Science from University of Alaska Fairbanks. He and his wife Ellen have two young sons. He will assume his new position in June.
Hughes most recently worked as a copywriter for Bradley Reid and Associates. She served as Press Secretary for U.S. Senator Mike DeWine (R-Ohio) and U.S. Representative Frank Wolf (R-Va.). Hughes received a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Arizona State University. She is married to Lt. Col. Steve Hughes, Deputy Commander of the 4-25 Airborne Division at Fort Richardson.
